Sneed will be missed

For the past 12 years, the theater-going public of this area had the good fortune to enjoy the talent and vision that artist director Phillip Charles Sneed brought to the Foothill Theatre Company.

During his tenure, Mr. Sneed assembled a first-rate artistic ensemble, created the New Voices of the West series, developed an outstanding educational outreach program that introduced area school children to live theater, was instrumental in the success of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, and played a key role in strengthening the artistic ties between FTC and the Maxim Gorky Drama Theatre of Vladivostok, Russia. I understand it is the board of directors’ right to replace the artistic director whenever its pleases, but it would have been much better if the board had displayed the same level of professionalism in executing its decision that Mr. Sneed has shown in his 12 years with the company. He deserved better. Season members and all theater-goers will greatly miss the work of this talented man.
