Should we secede?

The election was stolen in Ohio and Florida. The last free presidential election was in 1996. I propose an organization be set up to gather signatures for an initiative for California to pursue all legal nonviolent measures to secede from the USA and either become a separate nation or a province of Canada – if they would have us.

At first I thought this would be a crackpot idea, but the more I think about it, the more logical it sounds. I would strongly oppose civil war to secede. But the USSR imploded without bloodshed, and Czechoslovakia parted peaceably into the Czech and Slovak Republics. If we seceded, we would be economically the fifth most powerful nation in the world. We currently get back only 75 percent of every tax dollar we send to Washington.

If independent, we could control our borders, allow medical marijuana, gay marriage, choice, and avoid being a terrorist target any more than Canada. Even if this measure didn’t pass, it might cause enough controversy to return free elections to our country. If you think this is a good idea, write this newspaper, other media, and representatives. If you think it is a bad idea, please write why.
