Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team was there when needed

Nevada County is very fortunate to have such a caring and professional group as the Nevada County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team.

At the Air Fest July 5, I fell while looking up instead of down, as I should have been doing. The Search and Rescue group responded in minutes, en masse. Dressed in their “Cal Trans” orange uniforms, they assured me they were not the road crew. The registered nurse, who was also a volunteer, was very helpful with my care and treatment. After being placed on the backboard in the basket, they offered to demonstrate techniques that are sometimes necessary in more precarious situations. I promptly declined the offer. The caring concern for my comfort made a very stressful time tolerable while waiting for the ambulance. The two EMTs were wonderful and helped me to my car, so that an ambulance ride to the emergency room was not necessary.

The Nevada County Search and Rescue group does not get the publicity it deserves. Everyone should thank them by attending their pig roast to be held in September. This volunteer organization is another reason I would never leave my native Nevada County.

My thanks also goes out to those who were there to help me immediately after the incident.

Thank you all.
