Shelter pets seek homes

The Nevada County Animal Shelter is bursting at the seams with cats and dogs looking for homes.

“We have an abundance of bundles of love and could sure use some help from the community,” said shelter volunteer coordinator Cheryl Wicks. “If you’re thinking of getting a pet, now’s the time.”

Wicks said the number of cats and dogs euthanized in western Nevada County animal shelters is down this year because more people are adopting pets.

The shelter at 14647 McCourtney Road is open 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
