Shame on you

First I would like to say a few words of encouragement for these brave women and men who serve our community. I recently lost my husband after a short battle with cancer. Ira was a career firefighter for CDF for 45 years, spending his last 12 years selflessly serving the community of Nevada County. Ira became sick and I was forced to call 911. The crews who came to our residence many times during his short battle with cancer were always very caring and professional.

This fire district is seeking additional funding via fire assessment. As a resident within Nevada County Consolidated Fire District, I would like to voice my disgust at recent negative opinions that were printed.

[A letter writer] states that she is concerned about the funding actually staffing more stations for 24 hours. Let the current board members manage the funds. As for . . . a commercial property owner, you should revisit your statements on the cost increasing by 2 1/2 times. The increase comes out to less than one-third annually.

I encourage all property owners to vote yes on this assessment before it’s your emergency, and a delayed response causes your loss.
