‘Season for everything’

Thank you and kudos to Nate Beason, candidate for supervisor in my district (No. 1), for waiting to display his campaign signs until Labor Day.

Weeks before Labor Day, his opponent lined the landscape of our neighborhoods in District 1 with her signs. Her decision to subject the community to her campaign advertising so far in advance of Election Day (Nov. 2) was an overly ambitious political display, in my opinion.

I respect the right of property owners to post the signs of candidates of their choice. And I am proud to display signs for candidates that I support. However, wouldn’t it be nice if candidates posted their general election campaign signs in a “campaign season” that lasted no longer than the period of time from Labor Day to Election Day?

As for me, Nate Beason has exhibited the kind of good judgment, concern for his community, and restraint from personal ambition that I prefer in a public official.

So again, thank you, Nate!
