Scrutinize campaign ads

Newspapers, television, radio – the media are our only means of truly knowing what is going on in our country and in the world. We depend on honest journalism and facts to determine for ourselves how we feel and most particularly how we will vote in November.

An MSNBC show, “Hardball,” clearly showed how the media is allowing air time for ads by President Bush that are categorically untrue. How is plagiarism illegal and false edited ads legal?

The media needs to be more accountable to the truth by scrutinizing edited ads by the GOP that are outright lies or contortion of real truths. You guys hold a lot of power, not to be wielded by unscrupulous editors knowingly publishing half truths. Scrutinize before you publish. America deserves better. The half truths of politics need to stopped, and only the media can do that.
