School event helps bring us all together

Thank you for the article about the Nevada County Job Shadow, but it think the article is misleading. I wanted to clarify what the event is about and clear up some misconceptions. The event is to bring community leaders into our classrooms and homes to understand the importance of the early years for children.

This year’s focus was to understand how school readiness does not mean pushing up curriculum, but making schools age appropriate and individually appropriate for all children, and then linking them to the next levels of education. Our goal is to create a system that is set up to include parents and incorporate knowledge that will identify what a child needs to be successful early on.

Yes, we do help prepare children for school, but we also feel schools need to know what is appropriate. Early childhood educators are the key to providing schools with child development knowledge that will ensure a child gets a good start. We hope this event will help bring us all together to create a connection that will follow that child through out their school experience.
