Mark your calendar on Thursday, Feb. 4, to show the Area 4 Agency on Aging area plan public hearing. This area plan is the way we funnel federal and state dollars into Nevada County to fund programs for seniors and folks with disabilities. Last year, we received over $490,000 for home-delivered meals and congregate meals at the community/senior center here and in Truckee, for the Adult Day health center (former Lutz Center), for Del Oro caregiver services, for Telecare, and for other vital programs in our county.

The hearing starts at 11:45 a.m. in the Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library. Call Telecare if you need a ride. Please call HelpLine, (another funded program) at 273-2273 so we know you’re coming and so you can, for $2, have a nice lunch waiting.

It’s important to Nevada County that we fund these programs that help our people maintain a good quality of life and that they’re able to remain in their homes as long as possible. (FREED is another program we help support).

Please plan to attend this hearing. We need your input to make sure we’re covering as many needs as possible.
