RV nearly crushes man

A man in Alta Sierra escaped serious injury Sunday afternoon, when his jacked-up recreational vehicle fell on top of him.

The man, whom officials did not name, got the RV stuck in a patch of mud on the 10800 block of Shannan Way at about 1:30 p.m. According to Nevada County Consolidated firefighters, he attempted to raise the vehicle with a jack and dig the RV out.

Once he began to climb underneath, the jack gave out and the RV fell on top of him, firefighters said.

Consolidated fire crews were called to the scene, but the victim was able to pull himself out from under the RV before they arrived. He was taken by helicopter to U.C. Davis Medical Center for precautionary purposes, but most likely escaped any serious injuries, officials said.
