Thrift store worker

Help is needed at a downtown Grass Valley thrift store with receiving, sorting and display of merchandise. Proceeds from this store will help cancer patients in our community.


A local arts organization needs a volunteer to answer phones, lead facility tours, do ticket sales, and perform miscellaneous clerical duties.



Work from home reviewing new membership applications and keeping track of membership information.

Monthly board meeting participation is required.

Trail maintenance and cleanup

Participate in project to keep this wheelchair-accessible trail in good condition. Help clean trail surface of winter debris. A workday is scheduled for April 8, 10 a.m. to noon.

Long-term care ombudsman

Become an advocate for residents in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Listen to and help resolve issues. Ombudsman needed to travel to Truckee and Loyalton twice a month. Training is provided and mileage reimbursed.

Caregiver respite training

Through local hospice program, learn the skills to offer relief for primary caregivers of terminal patients.

Training begins April 18 and runs for four weeks.

Volunteer driver

Help transport clients to and from out-of-town medical appointments. Flexible days and hours. Position requires use of your own vehicle, a clean DMV record, and proof of vehicle insurance.

Book delivery person

A volunteer is needed to transport materials between local library branches. This is a flexible morning position. The volunteer needs to be able to lift 30 pounds and be available at least three mornings a week.

Activities assistant

A local assisted living facility is looking very a volunteer to help with group programs, such as bingo games, arts and crafts, cooking, and low-function exercise
