Adults 55 and older can share their time and talents with Nevada County nonprofits, public agencies and schools in the following positions. Accident, liability and excess auto insurance are provided, and mileage reimbursement is available. Call RSVP at 271-0255 weekdays (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or visit our office at 471 Sutton Way, Suite No. 202, in Grass Valley.

Drivers Needed

The Friendship Club offers a place, activities and opportunities for disadvantaged teen girls to grow, but 75 percent of our girls can’t get to our location without a volunteer to drive them. This requires a short-term time commitment. We will notify you by e-mail or postal mail of the dates and times when drivers are needed.



Friendly Visitors

Volunteers visit isolated seniors in our community for one to two hours of socializing each week, keeping people without a car connected to the community and living independently in their own home.




Ceramics Assistance

Help is needed cleaning greenware and detailing ceramic pieces for convalescent home residents.

Cashier

Friendly cashiers are needed for three-to-four hour shifts Thursdays and/or Fridays. Other tasks include working with the public and helping around the thrift store. A volunteer with a truck or trailer is needed to pick up donated items.

Greeter

Greeters collect admission and make change during the Nevada County Fair Aug. 8 Ð 12. Assistance is also needed explaining the history of the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad.

Receptionist- South County

If you enjoy working with people, help is needed Thursday and or Friday greeting the public and providing information and maps about Nevada County.

Drivers

Help is needed delivering noontime meals to homebound seniors for two hours one day a week; mileage is reimbursed.

Sierra Storytelling volunteer

Assist with various duties at the Sierra Storytelling Festival July 20-22. Volunteers should enjoy people and be able to make change. Shifts are two to three hours.

Assistant to the director

Help the executive director of the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center with office tasks and event planning one afternoon a week.
