Internet instructors



Teach basic internet skills such as sending and receiving e-mail, searching the Net and travel planning.




Mentors/tutors

Work with school-age children after school on their homework, and help with fun activities. Times and locations vary. Help also needed at upcoming Family Nights and with Halloween activities.

Cat cuddler

Cuddle cats and walk dogs.

Data entry

Type data into a computer using Access. Training provided.

Water bug collector

Assist in the collection of aquatic insects, stream measurements, and recording data.

Classroom volunteer

Work with individual or small groups of students in first and second grade.

Book shelving

Help is needed shelving books, shelf-reading to make sure the books are in the correct order, and cleaning the books.

Clerical assistant

File, type and assist with clerical duties. Training is provided; typing and computer skills would be helpful.

Wood shop

Assist high school students with the use of woodworking hand and power tools, layout and measurement.

New thrift store

Volunteers needed to staff a new thrift store in Nevada City. Women of Worth (WOW) thrift store’s primary objective is to help women establish healthy lives absent of the fear and devastation caused by domestic violence. Volunteers needed to work in the store, and at jobs that can be done at home.
