Retired and Senior Volunteers

Birthday greetings




Brighten someone’s day by remembering his or her birthday with a greeting card. Time commitment very flexible.

Senior Center assistance

Start the new year right – a wide variety of volunteer opportunities are now available at the Grass Valley Senior Center. Help is needed with many upcoming special events, including the silent auction, the Celebrity Waiter Dinner and the monthly dinner dances. There are also openings for receptionist and travel desk assistants. A coordinator is needed for Monday afternoon bridge, and there are always openings for drivers to deliver home-delivered meals.

Office assistant

A volunteer is needed to answer phones in a friendly voice, file, fax and make copies.

School volunteers

Assist with activities in an elementary classroom or mentor a first- or second-grade student.

Park volunteer

Applications are now being accepted for a wide variety of volunteer activities at the Empire Mine State Park. Volunteers can give guided tours to the public and school groups, help maintain the landscaped grounds and heritage rose garden, help rebuild and maintain historic buildings in the park, or be involved in the history program at the Bourn Cottage and mine yard. Call 271-0255.

Transportation assistants

Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 3-4 p.m. to assist disabled riders to board Telecare buses. Volunteers can choose which days they wish to help.
