Retain the treasure

I make no apologies for my passion to retain the treasure of Loma Rica Ranch. I’m adamant that its evolution into a horse park would be a windfall to the city. Nobody wants to deny some development at LRR, but just because one laments about improving community does not give them cart blanch and this is something that we can never go back on.

There are so many more variables in this project than others that it deserves great caution. The impact even without the Brunswick Mine issue is tremendous. The restrictions are enormous and the consequences could be a disaster for Grass Valley. I am not okay with the need to be taxed more for these consequences.

Where are the heroes that will take credit for cultural preservation in Grass Valley? Aren’t we glad for the preservation of Empire Mine?

In 10 years the horse population has doubled; the draft horse classic is one of the most attended events for the area. There are hundreds of breeds and disciplines, and thousands of associations. Preservation is a wise use of recreational greenbelt that will bring far more money into Grass Valley.

Plenty of communities have “developments,” but how many have Loma Rica Ranch?
