Relay money total now up to $204,000

So far, $204,000 dollars has been raised to fight cancer through the Relay for Life of Nevada County.

Over a span of 24 hours June 5 and 6, 1,000 participants circled the track at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, and another 500 were on hand to watch. All proceeds from the event go to the American Cancer Society.

The total raised is still uncertain, as money is still coming in and will be for another two to three months, event chairwoman Paula Gleicher said.

The team that raised the most money at the event was the Lifeguards, who brought in close to $12,000. Winning the spirit award for a second year in a row was the Bagel Bunch team.
