Readers’ corner

Another Will Rogers-ism: This comes from reader CRS, who has been strangely silent lately due to e-mail problems. So he hand-delivered this Will Rogers quote: “The income tax has made liars out of more Americans than golf.” CRS thought that was appropriate since the dreaded April 15 deadline is looming closer.

Musings on aging: These were sent in by reader John Bohnert.

• Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

• The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

• Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know “why” I look this way. I’ve traveled a long way and some of the roads weren’t paved.

• When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of algebra.

Readers helping readers: When Bob Richelson sent in some funny personalized license plates last week, he inadvertently helped reader Carolyn Dean come up with a personalized license plate for herself. Here’s what Carolyn wrote: “Today, after reading about GLDNX2, (Two Golden Retrievers) I was able to come up with a personalized license plate for myself. I have thought of a lot of plates that I wanted in the past, but the names were always taken, but today that all changed. I have two darling Shih Tzu dogs and was able to get my new license plate, SHTZUX2, which was not taken!”

Knew Dean Lawrence? Lots of people were touched by the former Nevada County supervisor and Frances, from NCTV, wanted readers to know that the public access station is re-running an interview with Dean by Sharon Boivin. The following nine dates are scheduled for the program “Dean Lawrence Interview” if you’re interested in catching it. All are on Channel 11.
