Found cat: A friend of mine found a beautiful, sweet orange cat that doesn’t look like a stray. It was running in and out of traffic in downtown Grass Valley Saturday night. If it’s yours or you know the owner, call Karen at 265-0245.

Bumpersticker request: Jack Dinwiddie of Nevada City is looking for a bumpersticker that says “Don’t Grass Valley Nevada City.”

Gather the Women: This is a description of the event/group by one supporter. “Gather the Women Ð Global Matrix (GTW) is a primarily Internet-based global initiative of encouragement amongst women to step fully into their authentic selves and share the power of leadership as we women gather in ever-increasing numbers. From pairs and triads over kitchen coffee to international organizations joining forces over boardroom coffee, co-creating harmoniously is squarely within the feminine realm.” Our local Gather the Women event – happening Tuesday night at Miners Foundry – is uniquely blessed with the presence and active participation of Marilyn Nyborg. “Compassionate Power Leads the Way” is the theme for this year’s event in Nevada County. It occurs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center. Music, food and art will be woven throughout the evening along with speakers who affirm and inspire women of all ages. Cost: $5. Information: 265-7474.

Kids explain science: Children had these responses to questions on a science quiz.

A: Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar.

Q: What does the word “benign” mean?

A: Benign is what you will be after you be eight.
