The group I volunteer for: Grass Valley Library

What I do for the group: I put away the books and work mainly downstairs in the children’s section.

How I got involved: I wanted to volunteer and I went to the Thrift Store. I never had done retail and I did really bad, so I came over here. I also fix, clean and repair videos and watch them all before they go out to the public.

Why I think this group’s work is important: I was a volunteer in the school in the Bay Area. I’m an ardent reader and decided to try here. The Friends of the Library are important to have to put back the books in order so people can find the books they’re looking for. If they can’t find them, they can’t read them.

The best thing that ever happened to me on this volunteer job was: Just being here doing the work.

The rewards I get from this volunteer job are: When they come up and say, “Job well done.”

Other volunteer jobs I’ve done: I volunteered in schools.

I’ve lived in Nevada County: Three years.

The most important job that faces us as a community is: Just having people available who can help.

I think volunteerism is important because: As a retired person you have to fill your time. What better way than helping out in the community?
