Questioning the roundabout

There is a good roundabout in the town of Orange, California, that has worked well for about 50 years now, but it is in the middle of town and has two lanes, so is easy to use. I can’t believe you could put two lanes in the proposed roundabout at Idaho Maryland Road, and I wonder why ordinary stop and go lights there would not be less expensive and do the job better?

I would like to see one of the stop signs there moved up to the road in front of SPD, as it is dangerous to make a left turn heading to Raley’s at that point. Cars coming off the freeway don’t stop until they come to that one stop sign and cars going toward the freeway at the same time make it hard to access that road from SPD. Has this ever occurred to anyone else?
