Property owners need some tax relief

What ever happened to Prop. 13? My property taxes have just been increased over 24 percent. Wow.

As a citizen and property owner in Nevada County, I am flabbergasted by how my property can be revalued by doing a so-called comprehensive analysis of comparable properties. First I was never notified of this proposed increase, then following my letter to the Assessor asking why, he sends me a letter stating that the time for appeal has past. I never received this so-called notification and many of my neighbors are in the same camp. I am on a fixed income and cannot afford to keep having my taxes raised every time the state screws up and needs more money for their boondoggles and or screw-ups.

Why doesn’t our illustrious Board of Supervisors use the lobbyist they just hired for $45,000 a year to lobby the state to hold the line on property taxes? Our state government had over a $13 billion surplus which they blew, now we property owners are being held liable.

Please join me in asking our District 4 Supervisor to work for us on this very important issue rather than pushing her agenda on NH 2020 or denying the commander-in-chief the full support of our county board.
