Property activists not fighting NID

The silence is deafening. Where are our ever-vigilant champions, the “No on 2020” groups, protecting our property rights? No oversized billboards, no deluge of letters to the editor, and no incessant verbal attacks against the horrific perpetrator. Faced with the first real threat of eminent domain proceedings, the trespass of personal property, and subsequent devaluation of one’s property within Nevada County. Yet nothing.

Perhaps it’s an issue of time. They must be kept busy fending off the ongoing efforts of a United Nations-led conspiracy to confiscate our property. Yet, I understand “I will listen to the people” Drew Bedwell, of PYPR, on March 5 at the Board of Supervisors meeting had the time to regurgitate his one-issue campaign of No on 2020, seemingly oblivious to the current threats to fellow Nevada County citizens’ property rights. Bill Weismann, CPR-INC, had the time on March 19 to refute Brian Bisnett’s letter and goes on without a pip about this current property right violation.

One must assume that “No on 2020” means it’s protection of our property rights as long as it doesn’t interfere with the plans of Nevada County developers. How else does one explain that the current perpetrator, NID, is proceeding with the rerouting of the Gracie Ditch (Lower Cascade Canal) through our Banner Mountain neighbors’ backyards justified in the name of future development. Where are our champion property rights advocates? Perhaps people need to re-evaluate who and what represent the true champion of protecting the average (not the minority large landholders) property owners in Nevada County.
