Press hostage of liberal left

Freedom of the press is a big lie. The press is no longer free, but is held hostage by the liberal left. Those who rely on this media are subjected to omissions, distortions and lies.

Recently reports have circulated claiming that the Bush administration had cut combat pay of active duty servicemen and medical benefits for veterans. An Aug. 14 report in the S.F. Chronicle, “Troops in Iraq Face Pay Cuts.” The truth is Congress approved a pay increase and Bush signed it into law. The only question involves whether troops not serving in Iraq or Afghanistan would receive bonds pay.

After Congress loosened VA eligibility rules, VA enrollment increased by over 4 million. To provide adequate coverage, a means test was imposed excluding a mere 164,000 wealthier vets.

The VA grades vets on a scale system that evaluates disabilities, service, income and other criteria. This information is available to anyone seeking the truth, but most of the media, Democrats and particularly Democratic candidates preferred to perpetuate these lies.

If they refuse to adhere to the truth on this lesser matter, how can they be trusted on the critical issues the confront us after 9/11.
