California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection


– At 2:27 p.m., a car was reported 30 feet down an embankment on John Born Road, near Pleasant Valley Road, with a person pinned inside.

Penn Valley and Grass Valley firefighters were sent to the scene. Before they got there, the car was reported to have caught fire, but the person inside was able to escape beforehand.

When firefighters arrived, the car was engulfed in flames.

– At 1:50 p.m., a caller reported theft of video equipment on the 400 block of South Church Street.

– A caller reported at 7:04 p.m. that a CD case and CDs were found behind a trash bin on the 900 block of West Main Street.

The items were identified as being reported stolen on Feb. 7 and were returned to the owner.

Nevada City Police Department


– A 1985 gray Volvo was reported stolen at 11:19 a.m. from in front of the South Pine Cafe, 110 S. Pine St.

The Volvo, license plate 1NFG622, has a dent on its front bumper and a cargo rack on the roof.

Nevada County Sheriff’s Office


– A caller reported his truck on the 15500 block of Lorie Drive was burglarized the previous night.

Tools valued at more than $400 were stolen from a locked toolbox in the back of the truck
