• A 30-year-old Grass Valley woman was being treated at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Friday for injuries she received when she tried to avoid a deer and lost control of her truck.

Mahrya Severson was westbound on the Golden Center Freeway near Dorsey Drive at 10:15 p.m. when a deer jumped the center divider and ran in front of her pickup truck, said Officer George Kirbyson of the CHP.

Severson’s vehicle swerved to the right, ran off the pavement, and rolled over. She complained of pain in her pelvis and left leg, and was transported by ambulance to Sierra Nevada Memorial. A nurse said Friday Severson was still being treated, but her condition was not released.
