Nevada County Sheriff’s Office


• At 2:29 p.m., a student at Scotten School, at 10821 Squirrel Creek Road, reportedly hit a teacher with a stick. The juvenile was arrested and booked into juvenile hall.


• A caller on the 11200 block of Hackett Court reported the theft of a diamond ring from the home at 8:34 a.m.

California Highway Patrol


• Three people were injured when a driver reportedly suffered a seizure and crashed into opposing traffic on Highway 49.

The crash took place south of Woodridge Court, when 24-year-old Cedar Ridge resident Leslie Edward Schofield lost consciousness while driving a Chevrolet Cavalier south. The car crossed the double yellow line and struck two other vehicles head-on.

The driver of one vehicle, Raymond McWhinney, 52, of Grass Valley, suffered cuts to his head, shoulders, face and arms. The driver of the second vehicle, 79-year-old Albert Wing, of Auburn, had cuts to his arms. Schofield suffered cuts to his face, head and arms.

All three were taken by ambulance to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital.
