Grass Valley Police Department Sunday

• A mailbox on the 1400 block of Segsworth Way was reported vandalized some time the previous night, at 10:41 a.m.

• A man reported at 2:39 p.m. that three boys attacked his son in the Safeway supermarket parking lot. The man said his son was inside the store when the three suspects tried to steal his bicycle. When the boy tried to stop them, the father said, they beat him up and took $40 out of his pocket. Police took a crime report.

• A caller on North Church Street reported at 8:21 p.m. that someone wearing black pants and a black shirt just snatched her purse. The suspect, Geoff Russell Johannsen, 19, of Penn Valley, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and grand theft.

• A caller in the parking lot of Goodyear Tire and Automotive Repair, on the 900 block of Plaza Drive, reported at 8:28 p.m. that a vehicle had its windows broken out, a stereo stolen and oil poured all over it. A burglary report was taken.

• At 8:19 a.m., a caller living near the intersection of Highway 49 and Pingree Road reported that someone in a late 1980s model pickup was possibly dumping trash on his property.

• A caller on the 15700 block of Wildwood Ranch Road reported at 11:40 a.m. that she was a victim of black magic, and had been victimized since May.


• A home on the 11200 block of Edward Drive was reported burglarized at 9:41 a.m., and a vehicle was reported stolen from the garage. The car vehicle is a 1999 black Honda Passport, license plate 4HHT319.
