Grass Valley Police Department


• A black bear was reported walking toward Chicago Park along Highway 174 at 4:38 p.m. The caller was advised to stay away from the bear, and the state Department of Fish and Game was notified.

• A woman reported at 5:27 p.m. that she was assaulted at a meeting of her 12-step program on Rough and Ready Highway. She declined to press charges.

Nevada County

Sheriff’s Office


• A man on the 21000 block of Pioneer Road reported at 9:59 a.m. that his “whole family” had been assaulting him. He declined to press charges.

• A woman on the 20000 block of Cruzon Grade Road reported at 11:16 a.m. that her credit card and checks were stolen, and that two of the checks had been used.
