Nevada County Sheriff’s Office


— A resident of the 11000 block of Butternut Way reported at 8:53 a.m. that his mailbox and two others, on Idaho-Maryland and Banner Lava Cap roads, were smashed. Three others were smashed on the 10000 block of Bitney Springs Road, a resident there reported at 2:08 p.m.

— A worker at Larry and Lena’s Pizza and Grill, in Alta Sierra, reported an attempted break-in at 1:41 p.m.

Grass Valley Police Department


A teen-ager reported at 6:14 p.m. that he was punched in the face while walking on the 300 block of Mill Street at about 5:30 p.m. The teen suffered broken teeth and possible facial fractures, and he didn’t know the assailant, who left with others in a white Cadillac. Police are investigating.
