Christopher C. Curtis, 30, of Grass Valley, was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery. The arrest by Grass Valley police occurred shortly after officers responded to a report of a fight at 3 a.m. in a Sierra Motel room.

Grass Valley Police Capt. Greg Hart said Curtis allegedly tried to choke a woman with a broom handle and chain. The fight was broken up by a third party, and the woman declined medical treatment.

Curtis is also accused of taking a ring off the woman’s finger by force, according to police.

Curtis left the motel room and was arrested by police. He was being held in the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility Friday on $10,000 bail.
