— Sheriff’s Office employees at the Rood Administrative Center wore black clothing to celebrate Sheriff Keith Royal’s 50th birthday.



— A juvenile at Nevada Union High School was cited with marijuana possession at 1:17 p.m.

— An abandoned mattress and a bad smell near the Independence Trail and Highway 49 northwest of Nevada City were reported at 9:36 a.m.

Ann C. Kistle, 40, of Grass Valley was booked at 6:07 p.m. on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale, maintaining a place for drug activity and possession of a syringe, according to a booking sheet. She was booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on $10,750 bail.
