Plenty of cats to adopt

It’s raining cats and dogs again – mostly cats – at the Nevada County Animal Shelter.

“Please come to the shelter and adopt a nice kitty-cat and bring home a cuddly early Christmas present for your family,” said shelter volunteer coordinator Cheryl Wicks.

The shelter needs the community’s help in keeping the population of cats and dogs down, Wicks said, so euthanasia can be avoided.

Wicks said the numbers of pets put down at Western Nevada County animal shelters has dropped this year because more people are adopting cats and dogs.

The Nevada County Animal Shelter – 14647 McCourtney Road – is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon.

For more information, call the shelter at 273-2179 or Wicks at 272-8833.
