Peterson-Lee wedding

Valerie Peterson of Nevada City and Christopher Rae Lee of Basin, Wyo., were married Aug. 12 at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center in Grass Valley. The service was officiated by Sarah Hendrickson. Approximately 85 guests attended the ceremony and buffet reception.

The bride is the daughter of Pat and Nancy Peterson of Nevada City. She is a graduate of Nevada Union High School, California State University, Santa Clara, and the University of Illinois with a master’s degree in math. She works at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

The groom is the son of Melbourne Lee of Cheyenne, Wyo. He is a graduate of New York City College with a master’s degree in math. He, too, works at the University of Illinois.



The matron of honor was Natasha Brown of Littleton, Colo.

The bride wore a strapless champagne satin gown with green sash, and carried a bridal bouquet created by Rachael Eakins of Art in Bloom.




The bridesmaids were Joy Miller of Nevada City, Katherine Day of Sacramento, and Michele Ghogomu of Chicago, Ill.

The best man was William Wahl of Thermopolis, Wyo.

The groomsmen were Caleb Eckhardt of Belville, Ill., and Liam Moran of St. Louis, Mo.

The guitarist was Jamey Bellizzi of Empire Music, Nevada City.

The wedding cake was created by Donna Imsand, The Cake Artist.

The photographer was Michelle Young of Nevada City Photography.

The couple lives in Champaign, Ill.
