Paying respects

The national day of mourning gave me some quiet time to reflect on a life of service, decency, heartfelt conviction, and good humor. What a special time it was to pay respects to President Reagan, his precious wife, Nancy, and our nation. It was a time to remember that we are Americans first and partisans second.

President Reagan understood that. God bless America and comfort all of us, especially the family and friends who knew President Reagan personally. I am looking forward to making a trip to the Reagan Library and paying my respects in person the next time I’m in the Los Angeles area. In the meantime, this letter will have to do.
