Parade clarification

After reading the Dec. 30 letter “Band recognition,” I would like to clarify the issue about the Lyman Gilmore Band. My son was in the band and I was one of the flag instructors. I was interviewed by the paper, and I believe I was the one who said that the band was the first from Nevada County to march down Main Street in Disneyland as part of the Disneyland parade. We were told that NU had performed in another venue but not marched and that we were the first to march. If that was incorrect, I would like to apologize to you and all those students who marched with NU. I would never want to take away anything that the NU Band did as many of the Lyman Gilmore students went on to play with Nevada Union.

Viva Nevada County.
