Outright lies in speech by Bush

President Bush’s State of the Union address is astounding for its deception, omissions, and outright lies.

He said combat forces enforced the demands of the United Nations when in fact Iraq was invaded without U.N. support, short-circuiting the U.N.’s successful disarmament efforts.

He cited the Kay Report to support the invasion when it flatly states we have not yet found stocks of weapons. Before the invasion, Bush said Iraq had WMDs and took us to war for that reason. After no weapons were found, the objective shifted to overthrowing Saddam, though no credible link to 9/11 or al-Qaida has ever been established.

Regarding soldier deaths, he expressed sorrow when one is lost, craftily using the word one when in fact is over 500 U.S. troops have been killed so far. Another omission from his speech, significant in light of his proposed spending increases, is the fact that the U.S. federal deficit has skyrocketed to its highest level ever.

And consider this quote in light of nearly everything he has done since assuming office: “We have no desire to dominate, no ambitions of empire.” Actions speak louder than words. Bush is a lying scoundrel and must be removed from office.
