Out of the mouth of dolts

Nothing could prove the intellectual idiocy and moral bankruptcy of the conservative/religious wing of the Republican Party than the latest flap over Secretary of State Colin Powell and his appearance on MTV.

Powell, when questioned by a teen-ager from Italy about condom use, said that condoms protect people from disease, and he recommends their use for young people that are sexually active.

Now could there have been a more reasonable response to such a question?

I don’t think so!

Let’s see, if young folks are going to have sex (and some are!), do we want them to get sexually transmitted diseases?

Do we want them to have unwanted pregnancies which could lead to abortions or unwanted children?

Of course not!

But the right wing pundits are criticizing Powell and chastising him for “straying off the farm.”

The White House is being forced to downplay any differences with the Secretary of State.

Over this?

My God!

Are these the people we really want running the country?

We might have been better off if some of their parents would have taken Powell’s advice!
