Other schools growing

Your article on declining school enrollment missed an important point – the fact that parents have so many choices. There are private, charter, homeschool, and other options, so if a public school isn’t meeting parent’s needs, they can send their child elsewhere. Noticeably, Chicago Park and Union Hill have gained in numbers. They are the most sought-after of the local schools. I know of people who have moved to Chicago Park just for the school. If all public schools tried that hard to meet the wants and needs of parents and students, they wouldn’t be losing pupils. As a resident of the Twin Ridges District, my choice was to pay for a private Christian school, and my child is thriving there. Many of my neighbors send their kids to charter schools, and some homeschool. It is wonderful to have so many educational options, and public schools with dwindling numbers need to quit whining and figure out what parents want.
