Other ideas for mural

I share the concern for a mural on the Del Oro Theatre. The fact is, Grass Valley hasn’t been the heart of the gold industry since the 1950s. My suggestions for a mural are as follows:

1. A mural depicting Maidu life here in this valley for the 5,000 years before the gold rush.

2. A mural depicting Grass Valley in 1852, as drawn in pen and ink, which appears in “Thompson and West History of Nevada County,” 1880, p. 62.

3. A mural depicting a gridlock traffic jam at East Main and Idaho-Maryland. I like this one the best because the city is considering four new developments, adding thousands of cars to the streets. We know Grass Valley will approve all of them with hosannas in the highest. Grass Valley: Heart of the growth industry!

4. No mural at all. We must remember, this building is private property and has no obligation for public display of anything outside of proper pain. The present owners are gracious to consider a mural at all.
