Just before the election (Feb. 28, to be precise) I was very surprised to see an article in the Sacramento Bee concerning Robin Sutherland, one of the candidates for District 4 Supervisor. This well-researched article showed that Sutherland had filed for bankruptcy and had numerous tax liens in Nevada and Sacramento Counties. What particularly surprised me was that our local newspaper, The Union, had published a “clarification” of a letter to the editor referring to these liens. This “clarification” suggested that the liens did not exist.

While the Sacramento Bee took this information and researched it, The Union merely printed an uninformed and incorrect clarification. Why isn’t The Union doing real investigative reporting? Do I have to read the Sacramento Bee to find out what is going on in my own county? For all those interested in the real news, go to http://www.sacbee.com and search for stories relating to Robin Sutherland using the “Advanced Search” tool. Somehow, The Union got suckered into printing a non-truth about Robin Sutherland. Now we see Sutherland has code violations on her property. I hope The Union and its readers don’t get suckered again.
