Mr. Ackerman, [Michael] Moore should thank you for all the publicity your column gave to “Farenheit 9/11.” I was a bit ho-hum about seeing it until I read all the comments from writers who hadn’t seen it. I thought it best to judge for myself. (I did not see it on the Fourth of July. I was right there with you at the fireworks celebrations, and I must say you are better looking than your photo.)

First, I was surprised I didn’t see a single rusty hippie van in the parking lot. I parked right next to a new Lexus SUV! Inside, I observed the large afternoon crowd looked just like my family (Republicans included), drinking Coca-Cola and eating popcorn. Maybe even some folks were there from Raleys and True Value! They sure seemed more like intelligent, open-minded people than loony liberals – whoever they are. Didn’t smell any pot, either.

I’ll let others write about the film, except to mention that Representative Doolittle could use some Nikes. Just wanted to let you know that many of your good neighbors were there and reassure you that Nevada County is not going to h— in a hand basket.
