Oh, Mr. Ackerman!

In reference to Mr. Ackerman’s column of July 6 (“Picture perfect Fourth of July):

While I do applaud Mr. Ackerman’s affirmation of the Fourth of July festivities and the root of its celebration, I read once again with dismay his irresponsible proselytization of ignorance. He continues to profess his opinions without basis in fact, with misquotation, borrowed opinion and fallacious analogy.

This is immoral. If an opinion is offered from such an influential platform as newspaper with a desire to serve the public, it should at least be based upon an assessment of the information at hand.

I note that his opinion has begun to influence the electorate, as reflected in the poll performed by The Union marking an increase in the population with no intention of seeing or assessing the information given by Mr. Moore, who then he may refute, not by innuendo, character assassination, etc., but by factual evidence.

Shame on you, Mr. Ackerman. Be a responsible citizen! Oh yes, should you choose to accompany me to the show, I will certainly pay for your ticket, then you may show me the truth of your opinion.
