NU dress code unreasonable

I am a student at Nevada Union and, being a senior, this is my last year. The faculty is being way too strict with the dress code. Seriously … they need to lighten up. Most kids have their parents pay for the clothes they wear; and for the parents to purchase what they wear is giving their consent, saying, “It is all right to wear this.” To give us three hours of detention for wearing a 1-inch strap on a tank top is berserk (when it needs to be 11/2 inch strap).

I understand where the limitation of the dress code stands, but wearing a tank top that covers everything except for your shoulders and getting detention for it is way out of proportion. Not only that, but the boys can get away with wearing inappropriate clothing – a “wife-beater” (undershirt), for example. This dress code is getting out of hand. Something needs to be done about this. Instead of having the faculty worry about the dress code, they should be thinking about the daily lesson plan …
