‘No’ to cigar bar

In response to the article about Kirby’s new owners and their plans:

Keep the unhealthy, stinky and socially unacceptable addictive drug of nicotine out of our community! Maybe it’s “cool” in Southern Cal to puff on a cigar, but we have gotten along up here just fine for many years without the presence of a cigar bar in what was a fine restaurant.

What kind of message will we be giving to the children of our community who go to Kirby’s to enjoy a meal with their family? That it’s OK to smoke? That smoking cigars is sophisticated? That you, the new owners, don’t care about the health of our community and that, in fact, you are actually promoting the use of this nasty drug?

Please, by all means, remodel the building, make additions to the menu if you like, start a catering business, knock yourselves out, but please think carefully before you try to affect our community by opening a cigar bar. I, for one, will not eat at the new Kirby’s if cigar smoking is promoted.
