NID ignores its mess

I believe my property rights are being violated by the NID. Enough is enough. A right of way to run their ditch on my property for the water is one thing, but that does not give them the right to clean all of the muck and trash out of the ditch and leave it piled in a huge mess along the entire top of my property. This mess is in plain view right near my house and as you drive up the driveway. The bank runs for hundreds of feet.

This started some 40 years ago, when I first called NID about it. They said when it was wet they waited until it dried out and then they would come back and take it away. They never came. After calling several times without getting a response, my wife and I took a wheelbarrow, picks and shovels and cleaned it up. This went on for several years, but a few years ago our health gave out. Pat, my wife, passed away, and I am unable to take care of it.

I called a director of NID and the office. I got a lot of conversation, but no action. I wrote a letter to the manager, but to date, I have not gotten a response. This is a small item in their estimation, but a large one to me. As far as I am concerned, it is their responsibility to take care of this. They are just using my property for a dump.
