NID didn’t finish job

On Saturday, Feb. 2, my letter to the editor concerning the mess NID. made on my property appeared in The Union. Well, people sure do read the letters to the editor. In fact, Mr. Chatigny, the manager of the NID. to whom I wrote a letter last August which was never answered, called me on Monday, Feb. 4. He stated that he had seen my letter to the editor. He said that he had come out to look at the ditch and that he would send a crew out to do something about it.

Mr. Chatigny told me that NID’s policy was to leave the dredgings on the ditch back if they could not get a piece of equipment in to do the job. I feel that this is nonsense. Looking at what was piled up in the last five years, I shudder to think of how much would be there now if my wife and I hadn’t taken the bulk of it away for approximately 40 years before that.

To make a long story short, they did come out and clean approximately 6 feet at the end by Storms Lane, leaving all the rest. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they did not do another 10 or 12 feet, which was very easy to get to.

I remain a very upset property owner and customer. I feel that NID’s public relations leaves a lot to be desired.
