New leaders needed

While I thoroughly agree with William Steele’s letter “Enough of Doolittle,” allow me to say this: William Steele and I share the same name and I too have a Nevada City address, however, I have yet to meet this gentleman, who could be a relation.

I, too, will not support John Doolittle because I disapprove of the manner he is handling the dam situation in this Congressional district. He believes the Folsom Dam should be heightened by some seven feet, while I suggest the bed of the lake be lowered by a like amount.

His method increases the danger to Sacramento while my suggestive (and more reasonable) solution lessens the dangers of flooding, however we must also revert to the original three priorities of all dams in California, which first call for empty dams; power production, irrigation and flood control. Former Congressman Harold T. “Bizz” Johnson added the recreation priority which, of course, negated the original three. The people, as a whole, would be better off if we reverted to the adherence of the original three priorities.

I will support Mike Holmes for Congress in the Fourth District
