New juvenile hall nearly done

The Carl F. Bryan II Juvenile Hall now belongs to Nevada County.

The county took “substantial completion” on the hall Friday afternoon, said Dennis Cassella, director of general services for the county.

Substantial completion, Cassella explained, means construction of the hall is complete to the point that it can be used for its intended purpose, and the county can take control from the general contractor.

Cassella said it will take about 10 days to finish the hall and move in equipment and furniture.

Juveniles will be moved from the old detention facility sometime shortly thereafter, Cassella said.
