New frequency at local airport

The March 1 article by Kevin Wiser about the radio frequency change at the Nevada County Airport is very much appreciated. Many people have been working hard to notify airport users about this important improvement. Thanks to The Union for your assistance.

Thanks also to two pilots who worked harder than any one else to bring about this important change. John Pitchitino first brought this idea to the Airport Commission in 2000 and has worked diligently to drive this process to conclusion. Sherm Hanley, longtime airport user, worked with the Federal Communication Commission to wade through the daunting bureaucratic process that resulted in the issuance of the new frequency. Both men gave extensively of their personal time and resources to bring this project to completion. The entire community owes them a big thanks.

Many good things are happening at the airport. The frequency change is a perfect example of how these things are being accomplished – all parties working together on behalf of the airport in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration. Thanks again to John and Sherm and everyone else that played a part in accomplishing this important task.
