Nevada woman dies in motorcycle wreck

A 42-year-old woman died from head injuries after crashing her motorcycle in Sierra County Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Beverly Day of Carson City, Nev., lost control of her 1988 Harley-Davidson about 6:25 p.m. while northbound on Highway 49, five miles north of Gold Lake Road, CHP spokesman Troy Marks said.

A man riding along with Day, on another motorcycle in front of her, noticed her missing.

He backtracked and didn’t find her, but later located skid marks with help from the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office.

It remains unclear what caused the crash, but alcohol wasn’t a factor, Marks said.
